The Isle of Skye is sometimes referred to as The Misty Isle. According to some authors, it was referred to in Norse as skuy (misty isle), skýey or skuyö (isle of cloud). It is not certain whether the Gaelic poetic name for the island, Eilean a' Cheò "isle of the mist" precedes or postdates the Norse name. The recommended tune is “Linda Gaul” by Muriel Johnstone and it appears as second tune in her recording of Well’s House on Haste Ye Back CD.
