Ode to Amanda
After a Sunday roast and apple pie,
Most folk let loose a peaceful sigh;
Then lying back they push up zeds,
From armchairs, sofas - even beds;
But those on Amanda's mailing list,
Must say good-bye to all of this,
And don a tartan kilt or skirt,
To heed the call of Amanda Peart.
They learn new reels, jigs and strathspeys
On frosty, cold or rainy days;
But thanks to Amanda's clarion call
Those Scottish dancers - one and all,
Must exercise their aging brains,
Remembering promenades, grand chains,
And so delay, thanks to each venture,
Alzheimer's and Senile Dementia.
Well that's it now, I'll have to stop,
'Cos the rest of it I've clean forgot!
