MACPHERSON’S JIG (J3x32)  3C Triangular set Roger Bestwick  Rannoch Sheets  1- 8 1s cross & out thru sides, down & dance up into centre, 1L dances RH across with 2s & 1M dances LH with 3s, all end prom hold  9-16 All in prom hold dance full reel of 3 across set (1s pass 2s RSh to start) 17-24 1s dance out thru side couples (same couples as before), & cast back to original places All turn partners LH 25-32 1s+3s dance ½ R&L, 3s+2s dance ½ R&L all ending 1 place round anticlockwise with 2s at top
The Rannoch Sheets are a collection of six dances, three by Roger Bestwick, two by Peter Knight and one by Peter Lockwood. Roger Bestwick was ‘of Manchester’ at the time of publication (pre 1996) and Rannoch (Raineach meaning ‘the Fern’ in Gaelic) is an area of the Scottish Highlands between the A9 road, to the east, and the A82, to the west. The area is crossed from south to north by the West Highland railway line.
